The gathered signatures and the cover can be bound together by the soft-back perfect binding machine with hot-melt glue. The machine can partly take the place of the thread sewing machine and the wire stitching machine. It is especially suitable for binding large batches of paper- back books.

Central control pushbuttons and temperature controllers for back gluing, side gluing, glue distributing and the preheating pot as well as the heating time controller are all mounted on the panel of the control console of the soft-back perfect binding machine. An inching button is provided for ease of adjustment and trial. A display screen is also provided for location of troubles. As soon as a trouble happens in a certain station, a control light corresponding to the trouble will illuminate so that the operator can easily find the position of that trouble.

The PROTEC sheet counter line combines state-of-the-art electronic Touch Screen technology with the new mechanical pick-up system featuring dual-suction plates developed based on the double vacuum DUAL SYSTEM . Rather than using optic devices or statistical calculations, sheets are physically counted one by one until reaching the pre-set number. This unique engine system, the real core of our machines, makes the PROTEC the sole sheet counter able to count paper, cardboard or plastic sheets and that also inserts the tabs. All counting operations are electronically controlled using the latest technology on the market. A multi-lingual Touch Screen control panel provides a user-friendly interface as well as detailed information for the operator. In addition, the system can be interfaced with printers, PC s or additional Touch screen control panels. The use of advanced electronics allows the machine to support wide range of options to meet specific user needs. The following pages show the Pack Mover and 3 models that can be customised: PROTEC, CT1, CT2 and CT.3

PROTEC sheet counters offer these special features: 1 - Sheets are counted from the top downwards. Once counted, sheets are taken away from the top of the stack rather than from the bottom. This way, the operator counts as many sheets as he needs, making the job easier. 2- The sheet counter can support a wide range of paper weights (from 40GSM to 500-800GSM*) 3- Curling up of corners, a typical problem with traditional sheet counter machines (especially with paper over 100GSM) is eliminated or reduced to a very minimum. 4- Marks, scratches or signs of ink on recent prints are practically imperceptible or greatly reduced with respect to traditional sheet counting systems. 5- Changeover between paper and cardboard is performed quickly and easily by manually removing the small plates. No tools are necessary. Average time: 30 seconds. NOTE: The maximum speed of sheet counting machines is often limited by the time taken for starting and stopping the machine or performing settings and various adjustments. The Protec machine allows downtime and/or adjustment times to be reduced to a minimum, with the result of a daily production of large volumes.
